Dear readers,
Happy Canada Day and happy Fourth of July !
Welcome to the title reveal of book 4 in The Lost Space Treasure Series: GRIMSTAR.
While book 3 - Polestar - hit an Amazon bestseller list and is making it’s way around the world, I’ve done a mental deep-dive into the next instalment, Grimstar, which is due for release on February 25, 2025. If I can publish it sooner, I will, but I needed to give myself some leeway, because I started a treatment for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and wasn’t quite sure how my body would react to the medication and supplements. I figured it was best to give myself some time, writing-wise, in case I had negative symptoms.
So far, things have been going well and I’ve seen a small improvement in my energy levels, but apparently it can take 4 to 6 months before I’ll see the full effects of the treatment, so patience is key.
In spite of this ongoing health issue, I’ve decided to hold my first ever book signing event!
I did a book signing event with other authors in a small local bookstore a while back, but this is the first time I’ll be on my own in a major bookstore.
If you’ve been following me for awhile, you might remember that I had a book signing event planned at Chapters (Indigo) last year, but it was cancelled at the last minute due to a computer glitch. Well, Chapters kindly invited me back! I must say, at first I hesitated to accept because these types of events are challenging for me, health-wise. But I couldn’t help it. When the leading bookstore in Canada invites you, how can you say, “No.”? I’ll make sure to get lots of rest before and after the event.
Besides, meeting readers will be so much fun! And even if no one can make it because they’re away on vacation, then I’ll get to wander in a fantastic bookstore for hours! It’s a win-win situation.
You can follow the details of the event here: https://fb.me/e/20wxMOsDg
See you there! :)
Question of the month
What are your plans for the summer?
What's up in the neighborhood?
I usually take a break between writing books so I don’t burn out. In any case, I had to take care of administrative stuff that had been glaring at me from my to-do list for weeks - ‘silly’ stuff like: taxes, dentist appointments, going to the optometrist and downloading 6000 pictures from my phone before it burst. Annoying but necessary. I think you can imagine how satisfying it was to cross off these tasks from my list.
On the bright side, the sunny days have arrived and I’ve been able to work under a blue sky on our deck. I also received stunning awards in the mail: The Wishing Shelf Book of the Decade Award and the Grand Prize Ribbon from the Gertrude Warner Book Awards.
All in all, June was a successful month that has gotten me in the right mindset to dive into GRIMSTAR.

They Came from the Shadows by Christopher Francis
Caught between survival and the search for truth, Sheldon fights to reclaim his humanity in the face of alien deception.
For ten years, Sheldon Hickory believed the alien intellect’s initial visit was friendly—one where the idealism behind their global encounter was a step toward Earth’s salvation.
Yet, the second wave’s brutality shattered this ideal. Sheldon believed it was a virus that mutated their species and split their vision in two. This dichotomy allowed Sheldon to reconcile the horror with the hope, to see the violence as an unfortunate byproduct of a noble aim gone awry.
However, Sheldon Hickory’s nights are now haunted by vivid dreams, unearthing the truth behind the first wave.
Through the shadows of his memories, he begins to piece together the actual events: The thing in the sky, the attacks in the woods, the monsters in the trees, the vanishing of his friends, murder, betrayal, and the eroding horror left inside Sheldon’s heart.
With Orillia by his side, Sheldon reflects on survival and identity during those harrowing two days during the winter of 2016 in the dark, snow-laden forest of Hidden Trail.
